On February 7, 2026, a group of international student representatives from Lishui University attended the local traditional “Kill-the-Pig Banquet” in Lishui City—a vibrant folk celebration held in honor of the Spring Festival.
The event offered students a firsthand look at a centuries-old custom symbolizing gratitude for the year’s harvest and the welcoming of good fortune in the new year. The students participated in festive activities, learned about the cultural significance behind the ritual, and enjoyed a rich banquet featuring traditional local dishes prepared from the freshly slaughtered pig.
“It was an incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in authentic Chinese rural culture,” said one of the student representatives. “We felt the warmth and festive spirit of the community, and it deepened our understanding of China’s local traditions.”
