Program Description

With the significant growth in the number of international students coming to the university, LSU is pleased to offer a Chinese Language Program/Preparatory Program. The teaching team consists of experienced and dedicated academic staff. Students are expected to improve their Chinese proficiency by the end of the program, gain deeper insights into Chinese traditions and customs, communicate effectively with native Chinese speakers, and acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the HSK tests. In addition, specially designed coursework may be arranged for students who wish to apply for degree programs in China. ♦Course Aims

To introduce students to the fundamentals of the Chinese language, including consonants, vowels, intonation, pronunciation, Chinese character writing, commonly used vocabulary, and basic grammar.

To develop students' abilities in listening, speaking, writing, and translating, and to prepare them linguistically and culturally for daily interaction with Chinese people.

Applicants must:

1. Abide by the laws of China and observe all university regulations.

2. Be in good health and aged 18 or above, demonstrating the ability to successfully pursue Chinese language studies.

3. Have obtained a junior high school certificate or its equivalent.
